CF Hewerdine Ltd was founded in 1947 by the late Mr Charles Hewerdine, uncle to the present Chairman who joined the company in 1948.

Prior to setting up the business, Mr Hewerdine was employed by an Engineering company in Egham that manufactured petrol and electric tricycles. The company reconditioned and completed a fully operational Stanley Argson Electric Trike, which has since been shown at several exhibitions and is currently on display at the Egham Musuem along with a history of both companies.

Hewerdines continued to repair petrol, battery and hand operated tricycles from 1947 to the present day, although the end of the Blue Three Wheeled Trikes officially came to an end on the 31st March 2003 when the Health Minister agreed that the few remaining clients could continue to utilise their vehicle until their adapted cars were ready.

On December 14th 2004 the very last model 70 was transported by Hewerdines staff to the Disabled drivers Association Headquarters in Norfolk to reside in a permanent exhibition in the foyer of Ashwethorpe Hall.

At present Hewerdines employs just over 42 personnel and Colin Gane, Managing Director and Son of the present Chairman has played a big part in the major change of the company and with the help of his brother Geoff, who joined the company 8 years ago they have grasped the challenge to expand the onward development.

The company is accredited to BS EN ISO 9001 2000 and committed to provide a first class service to both the National Heath Service and the private sector.

The Company is now selling and promoting high dependency beds, hoisting, toileting and bathing equipment, is now a fully fledge Rehabilitation Company. This will surely see the Company into the next 50 odd years!!
