Blizzard Wheelchair
Product Description

Design. First impressions count.

The Blizzard is convincing. The new Otto Bock active wheelchair combines a dynamic design with practical functionality. It masters almost any everyday challenge, making it the perfect companion for active people.

The Blizzard is maneuverable and agile while tracking straight and true. All components are beautifully integrated, and the broad range of colors
offers something for every taste. You would prefer a high-grade polished frame or the racy carbon look?

The Blizzard meets even the most extravagant demands.

Profile.

The Blizzard has a great profile. It is dominated by the side panels that protect the driver against debris and cold while providing secure support.  The side panels and clothing protectors are integrated so that they do not have to be folded down or removed for loading. When the back rest is folded down, the side panels slide down next to the seat tubes – and slide back up just as easily when the back rest is folded up.

The side panel position is simple to adjust using an eye-catching eccentric disk. Just loosen the screw, set the desired position, and tighten – finished. The height-adjustable folding arm rests are either integrated into the side panels or independently mounted to the seat tube.

Stop.

The right wheel locks are essential. Especially for sporty drivers. The Blizzard knee lever wheel lock is easy to handle and highly effective. The performance wheel lock combines elegance and functionality. When the wheel lock is not in use, the brake block swings down elegantly so that it does not interfere with wheelchair operation. When the wheel lock is activated, the brake block is instantly back where it needs to be.

The S-type wheel lock or scissor wheel lock always stays below the seat surface; this makes it possible for paraplegics to brake safely without any interfering structures in
the wheel area. No matter which design you decide to go with, you can always stop safely.

Chic.

The caster forks are an essential design element of any wheelchair. They determine whether a wheelchair can claim attributes such as elegance and style. But that’s not all. A lot of detailed technology is involved. Caster wheel journal adjust- ment is often a complicated, detailed task. Not so with the Blizzard; the positively-driven threaded solution is easy to handle, even for the user.

The Blizzard tracks straight and true even at top speeds. The casters are the crowning achievement. Small and responsive? Or larger for even better handling on downtown cobblestone streets and forest trails? You decide. And those who value fine details will find what they are looking for with our designer casters. Polished rims, black tread – a great fit for the Blizzard.

Tantalizing.

Upholstery made from durable materials is a prerequisite for an active wheelchair. But we don’t stop there. The Blizzard seat upholstery can be adapted using hook and
loop straps – for especially comfortable seating. This allows the typical sag which occurs after extended use to be corrected as well. The system is also used on the back upholstery; here, it is used to create back sag for improved stability. And once again, it can be adjusted at any time.

The back upholstery with spacer fabric is breathable with comfortable padding. It is cool during the summer while body heat is retained by the fabric in the winter,
keeping you warm. A handy optional zippered pocket on the upholstery offers additional storage space.

Customized.

An active wheelchair is built around the driver. This ensures that he or she is comfortable in the wheelchair and that individual wishes are considered. Nevertheless, we want to ensure that the new wheelchair can be adapted over the course of many years – which is why many parameters have to be easily adjustable.

Can the wheelchair be made slightly less tip-resistant once the user has become familiar with it? Can I adjust the seat and back upholstery? It’s all possible. Without a lot of tools. And if tools are required, they are common ones every household has. Simply make the adjustment and continue to feel well.
