A History of Hewerdine
For over 60 years Hewerdine has been the most respected name when it comes to independent living in the United Kingdom. CF Hewerdine Ltd was founded in 1947 by the late Mr Charles Hewerdine, uncle to the present Chairman who joined the company in 1948.
Prior to setting up the business, Mr Hewerdine was employed by an engineering company in Egham that manufactured petrol and electric tricycles. The company reconditioned and completed a fully operational Stanley Argson Electric Trike, which has since been shown at several exhibitions and is currently on display at the Egham Museum along with a history of both companies.
Hewerdine now supply powered chairs, manual wheelchairs, scooters, wheelchair accessories, seating, hoists, beds, bathing, toileting and other support equipment to over 20,000 satisfied customers in the United Kingdom.
